Applications open for the Paris Play-Direct Academy 2017

The search is on for a talented handful of pianists to head to the City of Light for a week of intensive piano training. Applications for the Orchestre de chambre de Paris’ Paris Play-Direct Academy 2017 will close on 1 April.

This year musical director Douglas Boyd will select just four young pianists to join him in the French capital from 1 – 8 September where expert guidance will be provided by Stephen Kovacevich, Michel Beroff, Igor Levit and Momo Kodama as well as Pascal Rophé for conducting skills.

The four lucky winners will take part in intensive workshops and masterclasses (sessions with a reduced instrumental ensemble made of the Leonis Quartet and pianist Ariane Jacob), plus rehearsals with the 43-strong orchestra at the Philharmonie de Paris.

Costs and expenses for the selected participants during their stay in Paris will be covered by the orchestra. The academy is supported by The Monceau Insurance Group in partnership with Steinway & Sons. Since 2011, the orchestra has offered young professionals the opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of great masters such as Joseph Swensen, Stephen Kovacevich or Kolja Blacher.
