The American Boychoir has named Dr Kerry Heimann as its new president. Previously the organisation’s assistant music director and accompanist, Heimann has taken on many roles within the choir over the past 10 years, allowing it to grow into one of the world’s most preeminent ensembles.
Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, the choir’s Litton-Lodal music director said: ‘I’ve witnessed firsthand Kerry’s unique blend of of strategic vision, organisational leadership skills and musical acumen… Kerry is an outstanding choice to lead us into the future.’
The American Boychoir has performed regularly with world-class orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and has been fronted by renowned conductors such as James Levine, Charles Dutoit and Alan Gilbert.
The boys in the choir manage their schoolwork alongside almost 100 solo concerts and a hectic touring schedule.
The choir will be featured in the film Boychoir starring Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates which is due to be released March 2015.
