Alain Paré becomes member of Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec

Seventeen new Québec cultural ambassadors will become members of the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec during an award ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).

The award granted by CALQ is a tribute to the contribution to ensuring Québécois arts and literature develop and flourish to earn a reputation for excellence at home and abroad. Among the 17 members of artists, writers, teachers, cultural managers and patrons of the arts honoured are Alain Paré.

Paré, founder, president and CEO of CINARS will receive the title of Québec Arts and Letters Companion for his 45-year contribution to raising the profile of the Québec performing arts scene where he has helped the international development of Québec artists and artistic companies.

Said Paré: “I am very honoured by this acknowledgment, which comes from my peers, and I wish to pay tribute to Québec artists, because without the bubbling-up of the artistic scene, which happened at the beginning of the 80s, and which had quite an impact on our province, CINARS would not be where it is today, and we would not have been able to put together all those incredible projects.”

CINARS (International Exchange for the Performing Arts) is an international arts market which is held every two years in Montréal. Founded in 1984, CINARS attracts over 1,000 participants from around the world from over 60 countries, with Paré’s aim to help promote Canadian artists in the overseas market.
