Los Angeles Philharmonic has confirmed Katy Perry as a guest for its LA Phil 100 at the Bowl concert. The day-long concert is part of the orchestra’s centenary celebrations and will feature over 1,800 performers.
Perry’s song titles – Firework, Wide Awake, Last Friday Night – suggest she’s a good pick for an LA party, as do her California credentials (she was born in Santa Barbara). She’ll perform a set of her hits with the orchestra, under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.
The Bowl concert will feature local musicians, dancers and visual artists performing across six stages. Aside from Perry, other major acts are Herbie Hancock, Kali Uchis and Youth Orchestra Los Angeles.
Tickets for LA Phil 100 at the Bowl will be allocated via an online sweepstakes. Registration for tickets opens on 20 August and closes on 2 September.
LA Phil 100 at the Bowl takes place on 30 September.
