The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) has signed five new Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with international performing arts organisations, marking a significant step in its preparations for the opening of the WestK Performing Arts Centre (WestK PAC) in 2027.
The signings formed part of a wider MOU ceremony at which WKCDA confirmed 12 new international partnerships across the arts, bringing its global network to 46 collaborative agreements.
The agreements, signed at the Hong Kong International Cultural Summit 2026 (HKICS) in March, bring Sadler’s Wells, Factory International and Studio Wayne McGregor from the United Kingdom, Chaillot – National Theatre of Dance from France, and the Shanghai International Dance Center into formal partnership with WestK’s Performing Arts Division, with a focus on programme development, talent exchange and professional training.
A dedicated performing arts panel at the summit, moderated by Paul Tam, Executive Director of Performing Arts at WKCDA, explored the evolving role of performing arts centres as civic and community hubs, with speakers including Sir Alistair Spalding CBE, Artistic Director and Co-Chief Executive of Sadler’s Wells, and Rachid Ouramdane, Director of Chaillot – National Theatre of Dance.
