Founded in 1953, the Ljubljana Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious music festivals in Europe, widely regarded as a cultural beacon and one of the most influential festivals on the continent.
Renowned for its long-standing traditions, exceptional programme quality and affordability, it has become a cultural cornerstone in the Slovenian capital. Each summer, the festival attracts over 55,000 visitors and more than 6,300 artists from around the globe.
The 73rd edition of the Ljubljana Festival takes place from 20 June to 12 September 2025, featuring a genre-diverse
programme that includes symphonic and chamber concerts, opera, ballet, musicals, theatre performances, jazz and popular music concerts. Highlights include the opening Summer Night concert in collaboration with RTV Slovenia, which will celebrate the 60-year musical career of songwriter and performer Janez Bončina, better known as Benč, and a gala closing performance by the legendary Vienna Philharmonic.
During the festival, around 105 events will be held at iconic venues such as Plečnik Križanke, Cankarjev dom, and other cultural institutions across Ljubljana. The festival also offers enriching experiences like masterclasses, children’s and youth workshops, and the International Art Colony.
