WFIMC has completed a successful 62nd General Assembly. The event, which was hosted by the Scottish International Piano Competition in Glasgow, ran from 5-8 April.
Four new competitions were accepted into the federation: Mahler Competition (Bamberg, Germany), International Opera Singing Competition of Portofino (Crema, Italy), San Antonio International Piano Competition (San Antonio, US), and Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians (Zhuhai, China).
In addition, WFIMC added the Association Européenne des Conservatoires (Brussels, Belgium), which represents over 300 Members in 57 countries, as an associate member.
In a statement, WFIMC added that it: “commits to pursuing greater transparency in member competition pre-selections.”
WFIMC also elected a new board for the next three years. It is now made up of president Didier Schnorhk, vice president Peter Paul Kainrath, treasurer Jacques Marquis as well as Rob Hilberink, Elisabeth Kozik, Noriko Ogawa, Marja-Leena Pétas-Arjava and Florian Riem.
WFIMC’s 2019 General Assembly will take place in Norrköping, Sweden, hosted by the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition (9-12 May).
