Trump’s Broadway tweets

New Broadway play The Parisian Woman starring Uma Thurman will feature a script at least partly written by Donald Trump. That’s because playwright Beau Willimon – known for his work on House of Cards – will update it each week based on the tweets of the US president.

The Parisian Woman is set in Washington DC and follows the aftermath of last year’s presidential election. Thurman plays Chloe, a socialite coming to terms with an uncertain future. It is directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon.

“The play is about how Chloe fights cynicism rather than submits to it,” said Willimon in an interview with The New York Post. “The play is set in the here and now.”

The cast also includes Blair Brown (Copenhagen), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings) and Josh Lucas (American Psycho). The creative team includes Derek McLane (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design) Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design) and Darrel Maloney (projections).

Previews for The Parisian Woman begin on 7 November, with the full opening on 30 November at the Hudson Theatre.
