London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is inviting children to take part in an online quiz through a new film. Titled Where’s Simon?, it sees musicians rehearsing from home for a performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro led by Simon Rattle.
“The LSO players and I have used our phones and computers to create this new online project,” said Rattle. “We thought it would be interesting for young people and their families to see how an orchestra like the LSO puts a concert together – an opportunity to meet the orchestra and watch how it all works to create one sublime piece of music by Mozart.”
The film sees with each musician introducing her or his instrument in turn. At the end, children are invited to participate in an online quiz (which you can find here).
Where’s Simon? was created by director and animator Victor Craven in collaboration with LSO principal flute Gareth Davies. It is one in a series of online projects released by LSO this summer as the orchestra continues to engage audiences during the COVID-19 crisis.
