Seven-year-old classical music fan Jordan Cartwright fulfilled his dream on Monday by conducting the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra through a rendition of Canada’s national anthem.
Cartwright has leukaemia, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He became interested in classical music after working with a music therapist as part of his treatment programme.
Edmonton Symphony Orchestra offered to help make Cartwright’s dream come true after hearing about him from staff at the Ronald McDonald House where Cartwright receives his treatment.
‘There was not a dry eye in the entire auditorium,’ said Jordan’s father, Scott Cartwright, in an interview with ABC News. ‘For my wife and I, it was an absolutely and astronomically amazing event.’
