Schoenfeld International String Competition 2020 has extended its deadline to 15 May. The move comes as the organisation responds to the global COVID-19 crisis.
In addition to the later deadline, the Schoenfeld has also adjusted some of the submission criteria. Pre-screening fees will be waived; video recordings can now be from the past three years, rather than the last 12 months; and sonata repertoire is no longer required.
However, at the present time the competition is still scheduled to take place on its original dates: 15-29 July in Harbin, China.
“After two months of effort, the government and people of China began to control the spread of the epidemic in their nation…the virus, however, is currently rapidly spreading around the rest of the world,” said the Schoenfeld team in a statement. “We know the situation is now bringing tremendous worry to people and music students…and, in light of the uncertainty many of the applicants are experiencing, we are officially extending the application deadline to May 15, 2020.
