Arts Council England (ACE) has announced the second batch of successful applicants for its Reimagine India cultural exchange programme, established to nurture collaboration between cultural organisations in England and India.
The initial budget available for the scheme was £1.5m (€1.79m) spread over two cohorts, the total spend made available was closer to £1.8m.
‘As the applications were so strong we used additional money, £300k, from another international budget to support the activity,’ explained ACE media relations officer Alison Millar.
Round one of the scheme was allocated in in July 2015, for which ACE made 22 development awards totalling £545,578, the remaining £954,422 for project applications was announced on 26 July 2016.
It is hoped that the fund will enable the creation of sustainable networks and partnerships between artists and cultural leaders in both countries.
The fund will support work from England and India using digital technology to reach areas beyond metropolitan hubs in both countries with the intention of connecting diasporic communities.
