Québec-UK Connections call for artists

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the British Council in Canada, Québec-UK Connections is asking for project proposals from artists, directors, authors and other cultural workers.

Applicants will have the chance to carry out a research trip between Québec and the UK in 2019 and 2020 and the proposed project must target at least one British and one Québec partner. The British Council and the Gouvernement du Québec fund the Québec-UK Connections scheme, which offers funding and support to encourage a cultural dialogue and foster a better understanding between the two societies.

Established in 1934, the British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Throughout the 60 years of The British Council’s presence in Canada, the organisation has offered training across Canada in social innovation, inclusive theatre practices, international projects in digital arts and VR, as well as providing funds for international collaborations.

The application deadline is 20 September 2019 and applicants must show that their research trip can foster the development of mid and long-term exchanges between Québec and the UK. Their project partners must also be able to establish new collaborations, develop new relationships or deepen networks of creation. Finally, the project proposal must encourage the development of special skills in the cultural field.

Applicants will have the chance to receive funding up to CAD2,500 (€1,660) which can be used for air-fare, accommodation, meals and local travel expenses.
