New campaign encourages dancers to rest

Dance UK has launched a new social media campaign to promote healthier dance practice.

Dancers are encouraged to share photographs of themselves at rest on Facebook and Twitter, using the hashtag #dancersneedrest.

Those who submit the best photograph will win a year’s Dance UK membership, a Dancing Times magazine subscription, and a selection of books on dancer’s health. Photos will be judged by Dance UK Healthier Dancer Programme manager Erin Sanchez and the news editor of Dancing Times, Zoe Anderson.

Dance UK hopes the campaign will raise awareness that getting adequate rest is a vital part of a balanced training programme. More information on healthy dance training can be found here.

The deadline for the photograph competition is 31 August.
