Music improves lives of hospital patients

Funded by the Ministry of Health, Sports, Youth and Culture, Cayman Music Therapy (CMT) has assigned a therapist to work with up to eight patients a week at Cayman Islands Hospital.

Led by CMT founder Julianne Parolisi, the 10-week pilot programme is offered on a referral basis.

Current patients include those with post-operation pain management, stroke, head injury, kidney failure, dialysis needs, and heart disease.

The Minister for Health, Osbourne Bodden, said: ‘I witnessed first-hand the joy and benefits brought to a patient through ‎only two sessions. The results were quite amazing.’
