A new John Williams album will be released on 4 May – ‘International Star Wars Day’. Titled John Williams: A Life In Music, it brings together many of his best-known film scores on a single CD.
The album, a co-release by Decca Records and Classic FM, features new recordings by the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) under the baton of Gavin Greenaway. Williams has a long history with LSO, with the ensemble recording many of his scores.
The 10-track album includes Shark Theme from Jaws, The Flight to Neverland from Hook, Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Superman March from Superman and, of course, the Main Title from Star Wars.
Williams will make his first performance in the UK for 20 years when he appears at the Royal Albert Hall with the LSO on 26 October. The programme for that concert will include many of his most famous film scores.
In a career spanning 60 years Williams has won five Oscars, 24 Grammys, seven BAFTAs and four Golden Globes.
