A landmark production of Raymonda has premiered at Royal Swedish Opera, the country’s historic national opera and ballet house in central Stockholm.
The first classical ballet by acclaimed contemporary choreographer and filmmaker Pontus Lidberg, it boasts sets and costumes by renowned artist, designer and former Vogue shoot director Patrick Kinmonth.
Closely following the plot of the 1898 original, the piece explores a classic love triangle from the perspectives of both its characters and their dancers, taking an unusual meta-narrative approach to what happens on stage and behind the scenes. Runs until 30 December.
