Job Summary
Job Description
– Deliver the highest technical standards of customer service to the resident production, liaising with their Stage Management team.
– Operate the lighting desk, work the stage LX plot and do rig checks for the lighting and video content of the show to ensure the artistic integrity of the show. Checks on all electrical practicals for the show. Cover for follow-spot operators in their absence.
– Keep up to date with new equipment and technical systems.
– Champion and assist with driving a positive approach to Health & Safety at the Theatre, proactively supporting the practical application of LW Theatres Health and Safety Policy by LW staff and by the resident production ensuring performers, technicians and audiences are safe.
– Problem solving during live performances.
– Undertake training as identified for you by LW Theatres and your Head of Department.
– Undertake some supervisory responsibility, covering for the Head of Department and Deputy in their absence.
– Keep backstage areas tidy and well maintained for the production and ensure that an excellent standard of general housekeeping is sustained at all times as well as assisting with general maintenance issues.
– Ad hoc project work for the show and the theatre.
– A working pattern including evenings and weekends.
– Manual Handling is required in this role and training will be provided.
– Ensure there is excellent communication and collaboration between the department and all other departments in the Theatre.
Job Requirements
– Good practical knowledge of technical theatre systems. Knowledge of Disguise, networking and live video is an advantage. We currently operate on a GrandMA desk.
– Experience of working a lighting desk, followspots and theatre lighting systems.
– Experience of maintaining a wide variety of lighting and other technical systems.
– A working knowledge of the Health & Safety requirements associated with theatre.
– A proactive and calm approach to problem solving.
– Excellent communication skills.
– Ability to work in low light and at height
– Someone who can adapt to changing circumstances and overcome challenges.
– Proven ability to balance and prioritise a busy workload.
