Hong Kong dancers make history

Hong Kong will be represented for the first time at one of the biggest contemporary dance events in the world. Contemporary dancers from Hong Kong will showcase their work at the Tanzmesse exhibition in Germany, which runs from 31 August to 3 September 2016.

Six pieces from Hong Kong-based dancers and choreographers, as well as fifteen representatives from individual dance companies from across Hong Kong, will be introduced to the international dance community. Also, acclaimed choreographers like Yang Hao and Chen Kai will premiere their work internationally.

By joining the 300-plus companies at the festival in Dusseldorf, the dancers, performing under the banner of Hong Kong Spins, are hoping to promote their work overseas and bring their dancers to international attention.

Tanzemesse is made up of performances, talks and open studio sessions. It is the world’s largest contemporary dance gathering, and takes place every two years.
