Film scores brought to life at Southbank Centre

The Southbank Centre has announced a year-long season of classic film soundtracks played live by orchestras.

Film Scores Live will showcase famous films scored live by internationally renowned London orchestras at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.

The film soundtracks that will be performed feature some of the most distinctive soundtracks in recent years, such as Mica Levi’s haunting soundtrack to Jonathan Glazer’s sci-fi horror Under the Skin, performed by the London Sinfonietta, and Johnny Greenwood’s atmospheric score to Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

The festival will culminate in three live performances of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic film soundtracks, including Vertigo, Psycho and The Lodger.

The season opens with Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 A Space Odyssey on 2 October. The full programme can be found on the Southbank Centre website.
