EFFE Labels awarded

Over 700 festivals representing 39 countries have been awarded the Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE) Label 2017-18. The label designates festivals that reach high artistic and engagement standards and is overseen by the European Festivals Association (EFA).

Chaired by composer Jonathan Mills, the jury has selected 715 festivals to receive an EFFE Label this year. They include Zeeland Nazomerfestival (the Netherlands, August 2017), Raindance Film Festival (UK, September 2017) and Bologna Jazz Festival (Italy, November 2017).

In a statement, the EFFE jury said that: “During its deliberations, the jury was impressed by the immense quality, diversity, exposure of festivals towards the public and their commitment to access and inclusion of all people in society. They also underlined the consistent artistic choices made by festival makers programming both emerging and established artists.”

Added EFA president Darko Brlek: “EFA is convinced about EFFE’s potential: to embrace and breathe Europe as an idea of community and reciprocal understanding and responsibility towards the world. That is why we are looking forward to develop this new European Label further.”
