Cleveland named World’s Favourite Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra (pictured) has taken the Bachtrack title of World’s Favourite Orchestra. Since voting opened on the Bachtrack website on 6 September, 11,895 votes for 417 orchestras from 97 countries have been cast.

Taking 20.3 per cent of the vote, The Cleveland Orchestra stormed into first place, followed by Ireland’s RTÉ Concert Orchestra with 12.4 per cent, and the Berlin Philharmonic with 8.5 per cent.

Despite being locked out, the Minnesota Orchestra took 22nd place. The Video Game Orchestra also made a surprise entry at number 15.

The majority of the votes came from the USA (44.2 percent), followed by Ireland (11.8 per cent) and the UK (8.8 per cent).

We have 60,000 social media followers whom we invited to vote, and they clearly were engaged. We are proud to be one of the world’s finest orchestras, thanks to the support of all the communities we serve.’
