Organisers of the classical music conference and expo have announced that next year’s edition will take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Classical:NEXT has previously been held in Vienna (2013 and 2014) and Munich (2012).
The team has entered a partnership with the Dutch city’s de Doelen concert hall, which regularly hosts large conferences, as well as 600 concerts a year.

Director Jennifer Dautermann said: ‘Classical:NEXT is the baby of the whole art music community – a toddler now, taking its first steps. As with any child, ours needs strong support to survive and thrive.
‘We are so pleased to take the hand of de Doelen, an established art music institution with a long and distinguished track record. Together with our new partners, we are intending to form a long-term alliance whose stability and experience will benefit art music professionals all over the world.’

Gabriel Oostvogel, director of de Doelen, said: ‘We are very proud to host Classical:NEXT in Rotterdam. De Doelen is strongly committed to new audiences for classical music in this young and dynamic city, and we are looking forward to collaborating with our international partners of Classical:NEXT to bring our shared mission to the next level. We are convinced that the Netherlands, and particularly Rotterdam, is the perfect place to present, shape and discuss what is new in the classical music scene today.’
