CAPACOA will explore ‘Culture of Curiosity’

Speed Dating, a Q&A with Robert Lepage and international performance showcases are all on the line-up for the 2014 CAPACOA conference, which takes place in Toronto later this week.

Hosted by the Canadian Arts Presenting Association, the four-day event is expected to attract over 250 delegates for discussions, networking and performances under the theme ‘The Culture of Curiosity’.

The keynote address will be delivered by author, lecturer and researcher Andrew Taylor. His speech will focus on sustainable business models in arts management.

This year’s Export Buyers Programme will include two networking sessions: short one-to-one sessions through the Speed Dating event, and longer sessions which can be booked in advance on the conference website.

A range of artists will showcase their work at the conference, including Taiwanese folk-rock act Sheng-Xiang and Band, Ontario-based theatre company Suitcase in Point, and Toronto’s Peggy Baker Dance.

The CAPACOA Pitch Sessions will be broadcast via a live webcast on 25 January. The line-up includes Fujiwara Dance Inventions, Kid Koala, and the Canadian Rep Theatre. Each group will pitch a new work to delegates in seven minutes, with an additional two minutes to take questions from the audience.

This year’s CAPACOA 2014 conference takes place from 22-25 January.
