Awards for Young Musicians takes Big Give Christmas Challenge

UK charity Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) is aiming to raise GBP60,000 (€68,000) through the Big Give Christmas Challenge (BGCC). Begun in 2007, BGCC sees private companies match public donations made to a number of causes – including AYM.

AYM gives young musicians from low-income families money for lessons, instruments and transport costs. If its campaign is successful, the money from BGCC will give 220 musicians access to AYM’s services in 2019.

“Talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t,” writes the charity on its fundraising page. “We know that there is so much more musical potential out there, but it needs the chance to flourish.”

Founded in 1998, AYM has helped more than 3,000 people to date. Success stories include Martin Bartlett, who was named BBC Young Musician in 2014.

Donations made before 4 December are eligible for match funding. To donate, click here.
