ATG moves into Continental Europe

Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has bought its first venues in Continental Europe. The UK-based company has acquired Mehr! Entertainment, which owns five theatres in Berlin, Bochum, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Hamburg.

Prior to this ATG had operated in Europe through BB Promotions. Now it takes direct control of Admiralspalast (Berlin), Starlight Express Theatre (Bochum), Musical Dome (Cologne), Capitol Theatre (Düsseldorf) and the Mehr! Theatre am Großmarkt (Hamburg).

Mehr! Entertainment was founded in 2008 by Maik Klokow. It takes care of venue operation, content production, programming and ticketing for all of its venues.

“These major venues across Germany are each unique and captivating in their individual style and offer exciting opportunities to expand our services and reach new audiences,” said ATG CEO Mark Cornell. “Maik is an extremely talented entrepreneur and business leader. He’s built Mehr! Entertainment into a force to be reckoned with in live entertainment and he’s a very strong addition to our team.”

Added Klokow: “ATG shares my commitment to partner with the world’s greatest entertainment companies, to present the best possible shows and deliver best-in-class audience experience. I look forward to playing a key role in helping the group grow further as we combine our strengths and creativity.”

ATG runs 38 venues in the UK (including one cinema), seven in the US and now five in Germany. It also owns the Theatre Royal in Sydney, Australia.
