The Adelaide Cabaret Festival has been recognised as a key event in South Australia, winning a significant tourism award.
The event, which is delivered by the Adelaide Festival Centre, was named Best Major Event/Festival at the SA Tourism Awards this month.
Adelaide Cabaret Festival, is the largest cabaret festival in the world, attracting around 60,000 people each year.
Now in its 17th year, the event is Adelaide’s major winter festival. The 16-day festival has a reputation for highlighting the best local, national and international artists through a varied programme of classic and contemporary cabaret performances.
The 2016 edition featured more than 150 performances, showcasing 42 international and 383 Australian artists including 182 South Australian artists.
SA Tourism Awards judges wrote: “It is clear that customer service is at the forefront of everything you do. You clearly live and breathe your vision and mission statements, and ensure that your visitors receive the best possible experience.”
Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and Artistic Director, Douglas Gautier said: “We are delighted that Adelaide Cabaret Festival has been recognised by the South Australian Tourism Industry Council as a significant player amongst major events in SA.
