ACE appoints philanthropy director

Clare Titley has been appointed director of philanthropy at Arts Council England.

Titley is currently assistant director of development at Welsh National Opera, and will begin her new role in Feburary 2014.

She has over 15 years of experience in fundraising, which includes roles in international development and the arts.

Commenting on her appointment, Titley said: ‘I am thrilled to be joining Arts Council England. There is a rich history of philanthropic support for arts and culture in this country and a real appetite for more to be achieved, particularly against the backdrop of current challenging economic factors.

‘I am particularly excited to be part of an organisation that will be at the forefront of making a real change to the landscape of arts giving, with the potential to influence a generational shift in public thinking.’

She added: ‘I am also delighted to be based in Bristol, where I live, and over the initial months my work will be focused on getting to know key individuals and experience the diverse arts and cultural organisations that contribute to the South West region.’

Phil Gibby, area director south west for Arts Council England said: ‘We are very pleased to be able to confirm Clare’s appointment. She has extensive experience of philanthropic giving, both in the arts and other charitable sectors. Clare has spent her recent career working outside London which gives her an invaluable insight into the challenges facing the sector in the regions. This perspective will help to support our ambitions to work more closely with the sector to build skills and increase philanthropic giving across England.’
